Major Carwreck At Wal-mart shopping center in Lucedale, Ms

by: Terry on Tue, Feb 26 2008

I had just went to see my son a Wal-Mart, it was his first day on the job so I wanted to talk to him about it. It was beginning to rain, we had been talking to a pastor’s wife and daughter we knew when the rain became heavy. I still had my jeep cranked with air on to keep it cool. I got in it, put it in gear, pushed down on the gas pedal when it became stuck and accelerated up to 70 miles per hour.

I was headed towards the gas pumps and had dodged several vehicles my jeep swerved and hit 2 drink vending machines, then it jumped the curb and hit a manhole cover sending the jeep straight up in the air. It threw me out over 60 feet into the air, I landed face down the the grass embankment of the ditch only few feet from the main highway. I must have passed out at the begining of all this, for I don’t remember anything except for what others saw, there were over 200 people who witnessed this! An ambulance driver was also there and an RN, they put a collar aroung my neck, turned me over and tried to clean out the mud in my nose and mouth to get me to breathing again. I was uncouisness, I was put in an ambulance and taken 70 miles to Singing River Hospital In Pascagoula where one of the best neurologist was on staff! I was put in the icu, they had to put a trk in my throat for me to be able to breathe, they clean out alot more mud from my nose, mouth, ears, and hair!

I was admitted with a subdural hematoma on the back of me skull, breaking my C2 and C3 veretebrae in my neck. There was disk space narrowing at the C2-3unchanged. My lungs collasped, I broke 6 ribs, both pelvic bones stayed in a coma for 14days, ICU for 21days and hospital for 41 days. I thought all my pain was finally just about over, then while in the icu, the neurologist came in and had me prepped and heavy medicated for the placement of my 6 lb. halo that was put on early the next morning.

I awoke with the worst pain yet, I wanted this thing off my head, It went all the way to my waist and was belted with latches around me, the top part was attached to me head with 4 screws screwed into my skull, that had to be retightened every week until the halo could be removed. I never knew so much pain before, then I left the hospital to wear the halo for 90 days but I was blessed and only had to wear it for 60 days with no loss of muscle in my neck! Before it was to be removed, and before the wreck, mu doctor had found some precancerous cells on my cervix, I was still in my halo, but thought the big C word so she brought the equipment into her office and we all put on masks and she began removing the bad cells and I knew immediately something wasn’t right, the pain between my legs was unbearable and my doctor did not understand why I was in such pain, she said beforehand that it would not hurt as bad as when she had gotten the cells for the pap smear! I just know I went downhill very fast after all the other with wreck, God was letting me get better and better, needless to say I could barely get off the table, I was took back in the waiting room where I collasped in my husband’s arms, begging him to get me to the restroom fast, I was on fire but very little urine came out and the pain only got worst. I thought,God why would I be allowed to go through the horrible wreck and come out of it a miracle, then be in even worst condition after this! I did not know where to go or even who to go to, then a lady at Walmart was talking to my son one day and she said what I had sounded like what her daughter had and gave my son some urologists names to call and go see.

I was eventually diagnose with interstitial cysistis [cystitis]. at the time, having never heard of IC I thought Oh Really?? but I was soon to learn it was like a death sentence. I received instillations, sometimes 4 to 5 aweek, but the pain shooting up my back felt as if daggers were being stuck in my back, the pain in my urethral area was like pouring salt into an open wound, some treatments helped but then my husband’s insurance no longer wanted to pay for the weekly treatments so no doctors would see me. I tried to tell them that something else was wrong but the nurse just said it was my back from the wreck, I knew that was not it, I just did understand why they just wouln’t tell me the insurance would no longer pay, we drove all the way back to our regular md, 90 miles away and he said I was going into renal failure, get to the hospital stat!

Needless to say we drove another 90 miles back to my urologist to be told they could not accept another doctor’s opinion, so we went to another hospital there, and they saw me, and set me up with an appointment the next Monday with a nephrologist ! I went home so bewildered with the medical profession, I stayed on my sofa for 2 days and felt like I was dying, nothing felt like it was being filtered! I am not saying all the medical profession is like this, but I felt like a piece of meat being slung around as if noone cared. I know you might not want to place this on your site and that is fine, I havr finally came to the realization that very few doctors, if any care anymore but I know my doctor I pray to does, God! Someday all will answer to Him!!

I still have IC and I am not doing any better and now I have no way to pay for help and I have been hurt by so many nurses and arrogant doctors, What has happened to compassion for one another like Jesus had! It is all about the money now and I pray the Lord will forgive you all, my pain is still unbearable but God knows this and he knows how I have been treated by the medical profession!! Whatever happen to just caring about one another! May God Bless You and Someday soon there will be no more pain!!! My e-mail address is based on the Book Of Revelation in the Bible and on what God is about to do to this old selfish, uncaring world!! Amen!~!
